PROJECT
Having ‘the talk’ with my 7-year-old son that all Black and POC families must have with their offspring. A conscious explanation of what racism is, trying to prepare him for the real world that is not welcoming him with open arms. While it took bits of his innocence, I wonder if white household still think ‘the talk’ is about ‘the birds and the bees’ and if talking about racism is still a choice of responsibility to them.

This work is a visual after I had ‘the talk’ with my son. A celebration of him, for him and for children like him, to navigate beyond color and make you look for the details.

The fabric of his existence
